Learning and development is critical for organizational success in a highly competitive, technology driven world.
Today, two-thirds of all training hours are conducted in the classroom, making it the most favored forum for learning and development.
Technology can play two roles – as the focus of training, and as the means of providing content.
Today’s training room must adapt to meet these roles.
At ISE, we have designed and built innovative training room furniture that will meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive world. We call it The Classroom of the Future – Today.
At its center is the unique All-in-One Desk.
Many of today’s training rooms fall short in their design for computer aided learning. You’ve seen them – training desks covered with cpu’s, monitors, keyboards, and mouses; unsightly and exposed computer cables and wires hanging dangerously; no open desk space for trainee manuals or note taking; and participants straining to see the instructor – their view blocked by their monitor and cpu.
Instructors also have challenges - how to combine instructor-led presentations with trainee hands-on computer work, and how to engage the participants behind the barrier of computer equipment on their desks.
Not the best way to deliver expensive training.
Now, imagine a training room where every desk is equipped with a desktop computer or a laptop computer, which is housed inside of the desk, together with all the cables and wires. Desktops would be free and clear of computer equipment, leaving a large open desk surface. With no equipment obstructing the view between the instructor and trainee, communication is easy.
Next, suppose that the instructor wants the participants to access an important knowledge resource on the organization’s intranet. With a simple push of a button by the trainee, or a press of a remote control handset by the instructor, the desks automatically transform themselves into computer desks by raising the monitor, keyboard and mouse, or laptop computer from inside the desk. All done in seconds, with the participants sitting comfortably in their chairs.
Now that’s unique.
For training leaders, participants, facility managers, and the organization, the benefits of All-in-One Desking technology are numerous:
- Instructors can easily integrate computer aided learning activities into their classes
- Trainees have desks which have ample working space when doing both computer and non-computer work
- Instructors and participants can see and hear each other clearly which improves learning and participation
- Facility managers find that their computer equipment is safer for users, incurs less handling damage, is more secure, and requires less support
- Organizations now have multi-use facilities instead of single purpose classrooms which can lower costs.
And there are more benefits to consider.
All-in-One Desks are available for everyone in the organization. Our models include instructor lecterns, and ADA compliant desks for disabled participants. All desks are robustly built and offer a choice of attractive colors and finishes. A keyboard and mouse holder eliminates the need for a pullout keyboard tray – resulting in improved classroom space utilization.
All-in-One Desks have been designed to accomodate today and tomorrow's computer technology including iMac’s, larger monitors, multiple monitors, and all-in-one PC’s. To convert a desk from a LCD monitor to a laptop computer, use a field retrofit kit.
Desk power can be supplied using an 8-wire 4-circuit power track system. This UL listed electrical system provides ample outlets to each desk and delivers safe, reliable, and easily configured power to a row or cluster of desks.
ISE offers many standard desk configurations, or we can customize a desk to meet your specific application or space requirement.
